Malaquias Montoya Exhibit:

Read and look at some of the accompanying images in this article about the Malaquias Montoya exhibit. What strikes you about this art of protest? Do you think anything will come of it? Are the artist's positions valid, or has he failed to consider other factors about society?

What strikes you about this art of protest?

Malaquias Motoya's exhibit was a lot different than I expected it to be. When I walked in, the first thing I saw was a picture of a guy getting hung and than I realized it wasn't going to be like any other art gallery I have ever been to. The thing that strikes me about this art protest was how strongly he felt about the issue of capital punishment.

Do you think anything will come of it?

I think that something could come out of it. The artist did an amazing job with the art It had me thinking about it for a long time, and I know it had a lot of other people thinking too. I think that if the artist has more people look at it, something could come out of it.

Are the artist's positions valid, or has he failed to consider other factors about society?

I think it just depends on what factors you bring into the situation, what if something like the Holocaust happens again? Would the man or woman in charge deserve the death penalty? What if there was a huge mass murderer? Would he or she deserve the death penalty? It all depends on the situation.

How women feel AFTER abortion

It is natural for women to feel depressed, sad, happy, relieved after having an abortion. Every women is different. Some feel guilty, some feel that it was the best thing to do. A women is more likely to feel sad emotions than happy emotions because she might feel judged or feel empty. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/12951.php

Abortion Statistics:

For abortion statistics, I went on the website www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts/html. I learned that there are about 42 million abortions a year world wide, about 115,ooo a day. In the United states, there were about 1.37 million in 1996, about 3,700 a day. Protestant women are 37.4% of all the abortions in the United States, Catholic women are 31.3%, Jewish women are 1.3%, and women with no religion are 23.7%.  Most women that get abortions are not married, 64.4% and 1% of all abortions are because of rape or incest.

Abortion Research Blog:

I did my research on my topic, abortion, for the project "A Modern Proposal".  I went on the website  http://www.justfacts.com/abortion.asp and learned about what the supreme court says about abortion. The supreme court say that abortions are permissible for any reason a woman chooses until the point the fetus becomes able to live outside of its mother, this is the Roe vs. Wade law. Another law is Planned Parenthood vs. Casey which states a minor seeking an abortion requires a concent of one parent and a married woman seeking an abortion has to tell her husband that she is going to abort the fetus.
