n Paul’s class, the team watched the movie called Schindlers List. This movie is about a man that transforms from a criminal to a hero during holocaust. In the beginning of the money, he used Jews as slave workers. With the money he made, he saved over a thousand Jewish people.
What does the word power mean to you? What does it mean to Goethe? What does it mean to Schindler? Do these people misuse power? The word power means strength to me, something that is in control. Goethe was a Nazi who was shooting Jewish people and Schindler talked to him about it. To Goethe, power meant that whenever he thought something was not done well enough or did not meet his standard, he would kill them. Goethe definitely misused his power. I think power means working behind people’s backs to Schindler. At fist he used the war to make him money. Then he used his money that he made from the war to save Jews. He was a friend of Hitler and many other important people and he found out what they were doing and worked around his way around what they were doing. I think that he used it in a good way to save many people. Someone that misused power was Hitler, because he had a way with words, he killed millions of innocent people. Schindler went from being an "antihero" to a hero. What specific events did he experience and realizations did he have to create this transformation. When Schindler was an “antihero”, he was for the war and he was using Jew’s as work slaves. When he saw all of the ashes from the bodies, and the little kids being burned, and also when he hosed down the train, he came to realize that they were people suffering. Did you think this film was effective? Why? Why not? I definitely think that the film was effective for our class. It made me realize how horrible of a time that was to live for the Jews. Seeing the people burn and suffer was really hard for me, and I could tell that it was also hard for the other students. It made me think a lot.
